The information we collect from you helps us to give you the best financial advice we can. We need to get to know you and the kinds of things we can assist you with, so we ask for information to gain a better understanding of your individual needs. We may write to you, by post or email, to provide you with information about specific plans, general news (newsletters) or to advise you of developments, which we think might be of interest.

We don’t share this information with any other organisation, so we don’t lend, swap or sell client lists to any other businesses.

Information and data provided by you about your partner's or family’s financial arrangements is respected in the same way. We do our best to remove partners and family members, who are not actual clients, from our mailings and correspondence.

As independent financial advisers, we’re governed by two Acts of Parliament in respect to collection and retention of personal information.

The Financial Services Act requires us to retain client information for a minimum of seven years. In certain circumstances, relating to specific policy types, we’re obliged to keep this information for the full duration of a policy term. Information is retained in paper and electronic form. Our client record system features high security standards and off-site disaster recovery.

Where information is held in electronic format we’re also governed by the regulations of the Data Protection Act 1998. ethicalfutures follows legal requirements and uses all reasonable precautions to ensure your privacy and personal information remain protected and secure. Although we can't guarantee that someone won't infiltrate our systems or steal our computers, the chances are remote. Please note that if we're ordered by the police, our lawyers, or government officers to provide them with details from our database, we'll be legally obliged to do so.

If you'd like to know more about data protection, we'd recommend a read through the full Data Protection Act 1998.
