When it comes to ethical financial planning
and advice we realise that 'one size doesn't fit all' and that
our clients may have differing advice needs, depending on where
they are on their own financial journey. Therefore, ethicalfutures
offers a range of advisory services designed to meet the varying
requirements of people who seek our help.
For clients who have a particular aim, such
as setting up an ethical pension or arranging an ethical mortgage
to buy a house, our Basic service
will focus on your current needs. However, many clients come
to us because they want help in 'sorting out' their current
finances or because they want to plan for retirement. In these
cases, our ethicalfutures Standard
and Advanced financial planning
services will help you focus on where you are now and how to
achieve your future plans.
In our initial meeting we'll discuss these services
in greater detail and help you decide what sort of service will
suit your current needs. Whatever level of advice we're giving
you, we'll normally:
- Review your current situation and see how your existing
arrangements fit in with your future plans;
- Share ideas with you about possible options and agree a way forward;
- Discuss what 'ethical' means to you and how these issues might
relate to our proposals;
- Research various options and prepare a report and recommendations;
- Present our recommendations verbally and in writing;
- Complete any paperwork with you and process this with the providers.
Once you’ve made the effort to plan an ethical
future - it makes sense to keep it on track. That's why we also
offer a regular review service.
Costs:
Much as we enjoy our work, we need to earn a living too. We
offer a choice of remuneration options which include fees, commissions
or a combination of both. This means that we'll be paid either
on a fixed or 'time cost' fee basis for work carried out, or
by commission paid by the provider of the plans we arrange for
you. Whichever way we’re paid, we fully disclose all costs
and charges of our recommendations, so you can see exactly where
we make our money. Further details about our fees are available
in the 'About our Services' and 'About the Costs of our Services'
Keyfacts documents in our forms
section.
Meetings:
We normally meet in our offices in Edinburgh, but if that’s
inconvenient, or if you have restricted mobility, we can arrange
to visit you instead. We also find that many of our more distant
or remote clients prefer to communicate by phone or email.
